Description

This truck has been great to me, but it has to go, sadly. I have been working on it as a slow project for the last few years, but I simply do not have the time to make it what it could and should be. I cut out most of the rust, I installed new suspension. I put in new plugs/wires, new fuel filter. Gutted the old carpet and anything nasty.
What you will get is a very clean project truck with no known mechanical issues, it is only a few steps form being an amazing trail vehicle. If you are interested in buying this for a project, the major steps are 1. Weld in sheet metal (some included, ex. new rockers from SSS). 2. Give it some paint. 3. Drive it.
My welding sucked, so it is better in some places than others. Could use a good grinding and maybe a re-do in places. I installed the long door-sil panels that fixed the greatest amount of rust in the floorpan. The rockers are the next big thing and those pre-formed (and thick!) pieces are included.
It runs very well and the 4WD works excellent. Climbs up almost ANYTHING. Runs smoothly, good acceleration.
Occasional cold start issues, like many carb. vehicles at high altitude, but after a few tries it always starts. I'm guessing it is a vacuum line fix that would be simple. Has a strange push button start system, but that adds to the unique character.
There was plenty of rust, but most of it is gone, and just the holes remain. For someone with experience with welding or metal fabrication I'm sure it would be quick and easy to patch. The wheel wells are a good candidate for fender flares which would eliminate any metalwork there.
Mostly original everything, it has a ton of character and with a little attention could become a beautiful trail vehicle.
Mechanically it is ready to climb mountains, and has done this recently. The 2 inch suspension from Rough Country was one of the most recent additions and it made a huge difference.
You may have seen this listed before. Craigslist resulted in a bunch of lowball offers, so I'm trying ebay again. Please don't try to make a deal offline. I've been burned before and I would prefer to do this online with paypal and cashiers checks. Also, please arrange for local pickup unless you are familiar with auto shipping and are willing to arrange this quickly. I can't spend a bunch of time setting up transport, basically I can deliver it to anywhere in the Denver metro, including a shipping yard if you're willing to pay for that.
You won't find a better Scout at this price range. It has some cosmetic issues, but for anyone with experience it would be a few quick fixes and some of the parts are included. More than happy to share additional specifics, pictures, or videos if you like.
